The sports center, which opened in 1977, and the public swimming pool are the recreational facilities of Knittelfeld. The sports center is used by clubs, schools and institutions as a sport venue. In addition to a main grass pitch, which holds 3000 spectators in it's grand stands and spectator areas, there is a trackfield with athletic facitlites and a 2^nd grass pitch. A free skate park was built for children and youth. There is a synthetic pitch available for use as well as basketball courts and small football goals and fields. Also located on the grounds of the sport center is a large tennis facility which is operated by ATUS Knittelfeld.
